Our colleague Klaas Padberg Evenboer, aih, informed us about a National Congress marking the 50th anniversary of the Heraldic College / Heraldisch College, scheduled for Saturday, 18 March 2023, in Bruges (Belgium).
The event will be organized by Heraldic College vzw, Familiekunde Vlaanderen vzw and FV-afd. Brugge.
The programme includes lectures by dr. Steven Thiry, AIH, and prof. Paul Janssens, a workshop (with a short presentation by Johan Roelstraete, chairman of the Heraldic College), a heraldic walk in Bruges (arranged by Benoit Kervyn de Volkaersbeke), and a heraldic market.

During these 50 years, the main objective of the Heraldic College has been to guide people or family associations wanting to obtain a design and a registration of their coat of arms.
On the same occasion, a presentation of the jubilee volume “Heraldisch College 1973-2023” is also scheduled, with 536 family coats of arms arranged chronologically, all registered by the Heraldic College. The coats of arms are depicted three on a page with their description and reference to the magazine “Vlaamse Stam” where the original arms were published. The book also offers a heraldic table of arms and crests followed by an alphabetical list of mottoes, surnames and the list of pre-subscribers.
