Established in 1998, the “Sever Zotta” Romanian Institute of Genealogy and Heraldry (I.S.Z.) announces the XIXth National Congress of Genealogy and Heraldry, scheduled for 11-13 May 2023, in Iași (Romania).
The outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, as well as its unpredictable development, have determined a decrease in the activities of the I.S.Z. With the lifting of restrictions specific to the pandemic period, the Institute can unfetteredly continue its mission of polarizing the community of specialists and amateurs of genealogy, heraldry, sigillography, vexillology, phaleristics, etc., from Romania and beyond its borders.
The Congress will mark the 300th commemoration of the death of the scholar Dimitrie Cantemir, Prince of Moldavia; the 175th anniversary of the Revolution of 1848; the 150th commemoration of the death of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Prince of Moldavia and Wallachia; the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Circle of Romanian Genealogists; and also 25 years after the General Assembly which adopted the statutes and designated the management and control bodies of I.S.Z. (9 May 1998).
The congress constitutes, as always, an invitation addressed to the members and friends of the “Sever Zotta” Romanian Institute of Genealogy and Heraldry to capitalize on the results of their own research.
Proposals of lectures, accompanied with an abstract of 10-15 lines, are expected by 31 January 2023, using the mail address of the I.S.Z. delegate-administrator, Dr. Mihai-Bogdan ATANASIU, member of the International Academy of Genealogy: bogdan23atanasiu@yahoo.com.
Lectures in international languages are gladly welcome.
